THE NEW GATEWAY TOWERS TRANSIT STATION IS LOCATED AT THE INTERSECT BETWEEN UNIVERSITY ROAD AND MARYLAND PARKWAY. GATEWAY TOWERS TRANSIT CENTER CREATES A NEW CONNECTION WITH UNLV'S PROPOSED FUTURE RAPID TRANSIT STATION, WHICH WILL BE SITUATED ON THE EXISTING IN & OUT LOCATION. THE CONCEPT ADDRESSES ESSENTIAL T.O.D. PRINCIPLES BY ACTIVATING THE GROUND LEVEL THROUGH RETAIL, BIKE LANES, RAISED TABLE, AND ENLARGED SIDEWALKS. THE PROJECT USES THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE TOWERS THAT COMMUNICATES BETWEEN ONE ANOTHER TO FORM A CENTRAL CEREMONIAL SPACE FOR BOTH MASS TRANSIT AND PEDESTRIAN REALM. A UNIQUE FEATURE IN BUILDING IS THE VARIOUS WAYS THAT TRANSPORTATION IS CELEBRATED AT VARIOUS LEVELS OF THE PROJECT. THE SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES THAT WERE ADOPTED ARE VERTICAL LOUVERS, CARVED OUT SPACES THAT CREATE SHADE, AND AN ACTIVE SYSTEM TO BLOCK DIRECT SUN LIGHT.
